I love this song. Especially when it’s playing at night, and you’re driving home down a well-lit street. You wish the Chinese take-out place on the corner near your neighborhood was still open. Maybe you still have leftovers in the fridge. The lyrics roll off your tongue. It’s like you’ve known this song forever. It’s stuck in your head.
I hope I can see Camera Obscura when they’re in Cincinnati this week.
She sits. And she sits some more. She looks out the window, and is unchanged. She looks down at the dog, asleep in the corner of the kitchen. She thinks the dog resembles the man outside, washing his black car with a yellow sponge. He stops suddenly. He just stood there without saying a word. Words, words, words. They are everywhere. It is everywhere.
Well, we just happened to be listening to All-Time Quarterback as we crossed the Ohio state line yesterday. Now, I’m in some Hampton Inn outside of Cleveland. Our room is the one right behind the hotel sign. Also, there is a “hot tub” in the room. By that I mean an over sized bath tub is sitting right next to the bed. Its presence is jarring, yet comical. Anyways, here’s to summer.
This song sounds like the end of the year; it sounds like driving home. So, I find it very appropriate for this week. Although I hear it’s wrong to set expectations so high, I am pretty sure Wednesday may be one of the best days I’ve ever had.
So, cheers to goodbyetoronto for reminding me to download Chiddy Bang’s Air Swell! Seriously, everyone needs to get their hands on this puppy. I post “Breakfast,” because it is a beautiful example of how one could sample Kate Nash and get away with it. Enjoy the whole mixtape right here.
As an aside, if you haven’t yet, grab Kate Nash’s new album. And watch the music video for “Do Wah Doo.” It’s all Ravonettes and such.
If you google “Kate Nash + kitten,” this is what you get.
